The wire inside the item is not attached to the item itself. You can say it's a good thing so you can you which ever side you want of the scarf and simply place the wire on that side.
I wanted it to be anchored inside the scarf so I could get a tighter fit as I have thin hair and a short haircut and need the secured wire to help hold it onto my head.
Otherwise it is a beautiful wrap and I love it very much.
